BRADY POLICY
____________________

1. Brady Commitment

Brady recognizes the European legislation on environmental issues.
After the establishment of two new directives on January 27, 2003, known as WEEE (Waste from Electrical & Electronic Equipment) & RoHS (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances), many of our customers in the various businesses are affected.
In order to assist you in understanding the implications of WEEE and RoHS, Brady will provide you with up-to-date information on this website.

RoHS
Brady has been conducting exhaustive testing of it products to ensure that all materials are compliant with RoHS. This includes tracing any materials used through the supply chain and validating that they are all compliant with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC. Brady commits to be compliant with this directive by July 1st 2006, or earlier.

WEEE
Brady is working together with the local organizations to set up a recycling process for our products supplied into the EU at the end of live in order to comply with the WEEEeee directive 2002/96/EC by August 13th, 2005. We will inform you on a regular basis on the status of this process in every EU member state.

2. Policies

2.1 Stocks and Product substitution
Brady items that already comply with the RoHS directive will keep the same part number.
Non-compliant products will be replaced by a compliant alternative with another part number. Doing so will guarantee that our customers do not receive mixed deliveries.

2.2 Compliance identification on product/packaging
RoHS
Our Target is to clearly identify Brady materials that are in compliance with the RoHS directive. This will be done by a label on the individual packaging of the product stating “Compliant to EU directive 2002/95/EC RoHS”.

WEEE
The norm EN50419 describes the official marking of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE).
In order to identify a) the producer and b) the equipment put on the market after 13 August 2005, the following markings shall be applied on the product:
a) A unique identification of the producer (brand name, trademark, company registration number or other suitable means to identify the producer).
b) Put on the market after August 13 2005 shall be identified by either:
Ø the date of the manufacture/put on the market with the crossed-out wheeled bin
Ø a solid bar under the wheeled bin together with the crossed-out wheeled bin

During the transition period Brady will use the last solution. The marking will be put on the product close to the rating plate

3. Brady teams

Different project teams have been established to address all aspects of these directives. These teams consist of key people from different areas.
  • Laboratory (organization and evaluate testing)
  • Purchase (collaboration with suppliers to achieve the compliancy information)
  • Customer Service coordinators (follow-up on customer requests)
  • Product design (redesign of printers…)
  • Logistic department (reduce stock of non-compliant products, introduction of compliant products)
  • Product Managers (selection of compliant products)
  • Marcom (WEEE/RoHS communication and activities)
Bart Wauterickx, Director Operations for Brady Europe, leads the teams in Europe.

    Local coordinators

Brady is committed to providing high quality products and services to our valued customers. To facilitate the communication about WEEE/RoHS with our customers we established a local coordinator for every location. Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact your sales representative or the local WEEE/RoHS coordinator.
